Will It Hurt?

Acupuncture is usually painless. Tiny needles the width of a hair (~ 0.18mm in diameter) are inserted at specific points on the body. In most cases, insertion by a skilled practitioner is performed without discomfort. You may feel a tingling, warmth, numbness, or heaviness as the needles interact with your Qi. Many patients find the treatment very relaxing and many fall asleep during the treatment. The needles are sterile and are disposed of after every use.{

What Can I Expect?

Diagnosis is performed through a combination of talking with the patient, examining the problem area, and observing signs such as the pulse and/ or tongue. All levels of imbalance (including physical and psychological) are considered in the diagnosis and treatment.  Acupuncture has been shown to release endorphins and many people experience a deep sense of relaxation during and after the treatment. Treatments last 30-60 minutes and are prescribed anywhere from twice a week to once a month according to the situation. Depending on the severity of the problem, you can expect to notice improvement in your health within 6 to 10 treatments (though many people report that they notice an improvement in their overall well-being within a few treatments).{
